Morris Cox

I like the look of lino/woodcuts alot. One reason, because I totally sucked at doing a proper print. So I was browsing around and I came across this piece by Morris Cox, called Licking Cat 1948. I think what caught my eye is the color and stylized cat itself. His love of Japanese woodcuts is very apparent here. To be honest at first glance I thought it was a Japanese print.

That really is a great composition. And you're definitely right that there's a Japanese influence there-- I like how he made the "M" stamp in the corner look like the signatures on Japanese woodcuts.
(I found your site through BlogExplosion... I really like your design!)
Thanks for your commentst! I loved the idea of print making but after nearly losing an eye and of a neighboring classmate, our instructor felt it was best I stick with blunt objects, like crayons.
